Formosa Tea Cafe

Photoshoot May 2014
When I was designing my cherryspoon collection, I was inspired by the cafe scene, so when it came time to do a photoshoot, I knew where I wanted to go - Formosa Tea Cafe! The light and relaxing atmosphere and never ending playlist of great music only added to the experience, but the best part was enjoying their wide selection of premium teas. My favorites are the bubble teas, but the Hibiscus tea with a dash of honey was absolutely amazing!

Mens' Dress Shirt & Pants

The mens' shirt was inspired by the different and unique fashion trends in South Korea. Their use of colours, prints and the variety in mens' wear facinates and inspires me. I designed the dress shrirt with contrasting yet complementary colours and textures. By colour blocking the shirt, it created a unique feature that has intruiged those who've seen it and been able to wear it.

The dress pants were made with a wool/polyester blend in a beige to match the dress shirt.

*Note: I have the pattern for the dress shirt and am able to do custom orders for it. Please check out my services page for custom work pricing.

Spring 2014 Dress

I was designing the collection for an online store as an assignment for school, so I chose Cherryspoon, which features trendy korean fashion for women who love being beautiful, fun, and chic. I designed this dress for the girl who loves to look and feel pretty in every sense.

It features a square neckline with a gathered front. An empire waistline and flared just off the hips, this dress was made for the romantic at heart.

Blouse & DIY Jean Capris

This set is a combination of an original design and DIY capris. The blouse was designed for the Cherryspoon Collection as well. I wanted it to have some repeating elements as seen in the dress. I picked a light cotton denim chambray and used vintage eylet lace fabric from my mother's dress shirt. For an added touch, I chose pearlecent white flower shaped buttons and only did 3/4 length sleeves with a peter pan collar.

The jean capris were an old pair from my mother as well (I shop through her closet occassionaly so she has an excuse to get more new stuff lol), an old bedsheet from my local thrift shop that the ladies had saved for me knowing that I can make something out of anything, and some pearl beads from my crafting stash. I added cuffs made from the bedsheet to the capris with little bows and pearls to accent them, and used more of the left over fabric for the heart patches. I then did some distressing on the knees and edges to get that worn in look.

This outfit was comlpeted with a cute owl necklace, flower stud earrings, and a boaters hat.

A special thanks to the Formosa Tea Cafe owners!
