Gothic Photoshoot
May 2014
The dress and Coat featured here were heavely inspired by the gothic scene. I love the elegance of gothic wear, especially when it's fairytale or lolita inspired.
The dress was an early concept design that finally became a reality a year later. At first it was going to be in light pastels, but after taking a look in my fabric stash, I decided to finally put my parents' red bed sheet to use, so the main part of the dress had to be black. I also got to splurge a bit and go all out with lace trim. To complete it, I had to hand sew a bunch of red seed beads.
The coat was inspired by a coat I had seen on a website, and what better time to do something you want to wear than an assignment right? So I decided to go all out and make it fit for a Kelowna winter...Erm...maybe a Russian winter. If I remember correctly I bought 18 meters of black coat fabric and five meters of bridal satin for the lining. The hood is trimmed with a beautiful black fur, and it's so soft!
Luckily these two pieces just happen to fit me, so they are permanent residents in my closet.
P.S. The pictures below are moveable and can be expanded ;)
